To respond to the grand challenges of epoch-defining phenomena like a global pandemic, climate change, and social justice movements, the multi-disciplined, problem-driven approaches of organization development (OD) must come to the fore. In this article I make the case for how, as a philosophy of social science, critical pragmatism can distinguish OD within the canon of organizational knowledge and, as a line of analysis and imagination for the OD scholar practitioner, critical pragmatism contributes to useful scholarship, enhances the skillful practice of OD, and helps us to be better prepared for a socially divided, post-pandemic future.
